I miss you with every faltering beat of my heart
Alone at night, I sit down to watch the stars
Sometimes I hear your voice, even from afar
I am haunted by your presence in my visions
Constantly reminded about the consequences of my decisions
I search and search – beyond the realms of sanity
To get you back where you belong, beside of me

I hurt you and betrayed you
I failed you, and thus, I slayed you
Desperate times calls for desperate measures
Instead I crumbled

The permanent silence – frightens me
My honest regret – enlightens me
A lock of your golden hair – squeezed tight between my fingers
My sole companion as I walk the land
I left you for dead – so now it refuses me

For months we heard the rumors
Of a plague without its equal
Friends turned to foes
The predators became the prey

As the roof came crushing down
As the walls were torn to pieces
As the silent night erupted into chaos
I failed you.

Another dawnless day on the horizon
The whole world covered in darkness

I cannot imagine what could make you think that your comments are inadequate, but if it makes you feel better, right after I posted that comment I thought something to the effect of “those are short sentences that really are not written well and seem disjointed, but I can’t edit it now, so oh well…” 🙂

Thank you for sharing an intimate part of you.
~I hurt you and betrayed you
I failed you, and thus, I slayed you~ made me cry as I have done this to a very dear person to me and have lost him for good.

I was drawn into the intimate confession others have commented on, but as I continued to read I found myself panning back into space and seeing the planet in the same relationship as t he personal one. Apocalypse indeed. Clever piece of writing!
